VSAGC Annual Dinner 2010
Speech by Mr Puran Chaal, President VSAGC
Ladies and Gentlemen: Good evening, and on behalf of the Victorian Sikh Association Golf Club’s management committee, I welcome all of you here tonight, for our club’s 2010 Annual Dinner party.
We are here tonight to celebrate the ongoing success of our social golf club, and enjoy each other’s company with lots of music and dancing later on.
Our club has been in existence for over 20 years now, with a membership base in excess of 80 members. All are welcome to apply for membership and enjoy participation in our club’s activities.
I would like to encourage our non-financial members to reinvigorate their participation in our golf events. Our website has lots of information on our social competitions and events, including photos of our members and guests.
The current management committee has continued to build on the success from previous years’. Some of our achievements this year have been -
- Scheduling of our monthly golf competitions and winners presentations at various local restaurants.
- Amendments to our club’s Rules and Regulations to improve its application.
- Establishment of our website, a valuable asset for the benefit of our members. The website has been generously sponsored by Mr Ranjeet Chaal of Espranza Designs, at no cost to our club. Ranjeet is also our club’s Secretary, who is unable to be here tonight as he is overseas on work commitments.
- Procurement of golf polo tops for all our financial members. The polo tops have been generously sponsored by our parent body the Victorian Sikh Association, Box Hill Financial Services and Dhillon Real Estate, also at no cost to our club. I would like to extend a personal welcome to the sponsors here tonight, Mr Harvin Dhillon, President of VSA and his wife Sharon, and Mr Gurbinder Gill of Box Hill Financial Services and his wife Ravin. I would also like to extend my heartfelt condolences to the family of Mr Kewal Dhillon, of Dhillon Real Estate, who sadly passed away recently.
I would also like to personally welcome the VSA management committee, who are present here tonight in support of our social golf club.
I would now like to acknowledge and wholeheartedly thank the following benefactors of our club, who have helped to make this annual dinner a huge success, through their generous sponsorship of various items. This list is in no particular order –
- Mr Parminder Rayat of Consolidated Insurance Agencies, who is unable to be with us tonight due to other commitments, but has sponsored 2 cases of beer for our enjoyment;
- Mr Sunny Deo and Mr Kerpal Marne from MPA Accountants who have sponsored all winners’ trophies, 1 case of beer and the music tonight;
- Our Post Master General Mr Balbir Chail and his wife Kamal for sponsoring 2 door / lucky draw prizes;
- Mr Paramjit Jaswal and Mr Harpal Singh of Imperial College of Technology & Management for sponsoring 2 door / lucky draw prizes;
- Mr Gurbinder Gill of Box Hill Financial Services, who has put together a quiz for all of us here tonight with many prizes to be won;
- Management and staff of Delhi Mogul’s Restaurant for their professional service and hospitality; and
- Last but not least, Mr Charn Khaira for agreeing to volunteer his time and services to be our MC tonight.
Please put your hands together for this fantastic display of generosity for the benefit of all here tonight, from these strong community spirited people.
In closing, I would like to commend the good work of our club’s current management committee, who volunteer their valuable time and effort in service of our members.
Thank you.
